Trip Itinerary
Day 0: Santiago – 90 minute flight to Pucon
Day 1: Ski at Centro de Ski Pucon, ski area on a volcano
Day 2: Climb and ski Volcan Quetrupillan (ski through bamboo forests, good warm-up day)
Day 3: Climb and ski Volcan Villarrica (active lava lake at the summit, but sometimes closed because of poisonous gas)
Day 4: Rest day at Termas Geometricas, one of the “hot spring wonders of the world” in a fern canyon with a hot river and icy waterfalls.
Day 5-6: Two day climb of Volcan Lanin with a stay in a mountain hut (old growth raucaria forest, bigger day)
Day 7: Rest day Termas de Huife, hot springs close to town
Day 8: Back to Santiago
Alternates in the region:
Option 1: Las Araucarias Ski Area / ski touring around Volcan Llaima in the araucaria forest
Option 2: Climb Mocho Choshuenco (moderate effort, jungle hike in)
