Women’s Intro to Backcountry Skiing Hut Trip

  • Duration 3 days, 2 nights
  • Backcountry Hut
  • Backcountry Skiing

Join us for our women’s introductory backcountry skiing and splitboarding hut trip!

Whether this is your very first hut trip or you are a hut veteran, this trip is ideal for those looking to advance their backcountry ski skills in a supporting “mansplaining free zone.” The Spring dates of this trip will help ensure a safer snowpack environment for larger tours and objectives. We will be staying at the Lindley hut for both nights which entails 4.5 miles of skinning on a relatively easy snow covered road and trail to the hut.

Subjects covered include:

  • Trip planning and preparation
  • Route finding decision making
  • How avalanches form and release
  • Assessing avalanche terrain
  • Avalanche gear review (beacons, probes, airbags, etc.)
  • Rescue protocols and procedures
  • Hut protocols

Students that are a great fit for this backcountry hut trip – Any current or future backcountry skier / rider that knows how to skin uphill and is familiar with their backcountry uphill equipment and how to use it.  This person has ideally skied off-piste in untracked snow before and can safely ski single black diamond terrain inbounds. Students that may not be a great fit for this backcountry hut trip – Beginner skiers and riders.  Anyone that has not used uphill skinning equipment before this trip and those that are not familiar with how to use their gear.  We want to focus on backcountry and avalanche education in our high-quality courses and NOT how to use our backcountry ski and snowboarding equipment.  We do offer private avalanche education courses on request for those that may need extra instruction and for non-skiers / riders that may prefer to snowshoe or cross-country ski.

Stay tuned for winter 2024-25 dates! We will have a pre-trip Zoom prior to discuss meet the team and discuss details. Meals are not included, but you can discuss food options in the pre-trip meeting.
