South Maroon Peak

South Maroon Peak

  • Duration 1 Day
  • Technical Climbing

For a mid-summer classic 14er experience, the standard and exceptionally long South Ridge is a must do

Our clients are on rope with their guides through all technical sections of this climb. For the majority of the spring and early summer, South Maroon Peak (14,156 ft.) can provide aspiring mountaineers the opportunity to hone technical snow climbing skills on the classic ‘Y’ couloir. With 2000’ of sustained 40° to 45° steepness, this is one of Colorado’s premier snow climbing routes to the top of a 14er. In addition, when conditions permit, it is hard to beat the thrill of climbing the 2,000’+ Bell Cord Couloir that centrally dissects South and North Maroon Peak and then continues on to the summit of South Maroon Peak via the airy North West Ridge.
