Scott Eden

Guide

Scott grew up in the Chicago suburbs climbing trees and skiing the hills of Wisconsin. His first experience with the Colorado mountains was with family ski trips to Steamboat Springs (after being a Powder Panda for two years). He knew he wanted to spend more time in the mountains, so at age 16 he took a 30 day Outward Bound mountaineering course in the San Juan Mountains. Scott fell in love with the San Juans & the Weminuche Wilderness.

He moved to Durango after high school to attend Fort Lewis College and started peak bagging and pursuing the 14ers. By 2007 he had climbed all 58. In the process, Scott continued to hone his mountain craft by climbing more challenging routes like the Snake Couloir on Mt Sneffels, Owens Buttress on Mt Blanka, and the Ellingwood Arete on Crestone Needle. This led to a natural transition to multi-pitch rock climbing, and Scott began venturing out of the mountains to climb desert towers and to climbing venues like Red Rock Canyon, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Cochise Stronghold.

The winters drew Scott back to Steamboat Springs, where he worked on Steamboat ski patrol for five winters. During this time he met his wife Isabelle, and spent 3 winters living with her in the French Alps at Les Trois Vallees. It was there that Scott started ski touring beyond the chairlifts and developed a passion for ski mountaineering.

Scott & his wife moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2015 and he started guiding for Aspen Expeditions. It is the perfect mix for Scott to share his love of ski touring, mountaineering, & rock climbing with our guests.
