Join us on a climb of the Kautz Glacier to summit Mount Rainier!
The Kautz Glacier is a technical big mountain route that we climb in alpine style. On this climb we travel across large glaciers and establish multiple camps over 5 days en route, towards the 14,410' summit.
Summit day includes pitched low angle ice climbing out of camp and upper mountain glacier travel to the summit. We rappel back down through the ice pitches on return to our high camp. The following morning we hike down and out our ascent route to Paradise.
The Kautz glacier is a great route for those looking to blend a bit of technical climbing with a big mountain ascent. Climbers should be in good physical fitness and have previous experience with glacier travel (such as Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan), exposure to two-tool ice climbing, & crampon techniques.
Price includes: Five days on mountain with trained/certified AMGA guides, NPS registration fees, all Breakfasts & Dinners while en route, group gear (tents, stoves).
Price does not include: Personal climbing gear, lunch/snacks, guide gratuity, hotels before/after the trip.
Training: Multi-pitch ice-climbing, spring 14er climbs in the Elks, glaciated climbs in the Northwest.
