You're Invited! - SKI with IFMGA guide Mike Arnold

Join Aspen Expeditions' Local's Backcountry Ski Tour this Friday, January 8, 8:30 am with IFMGA guide Mike Arnold. Meet at Aspen Highlands.  You must preregister either online, stop by our shop or call us at 970-925-7625 (SPACE IS LIMITED TO 4)  Mike Arnold has been skiing and guiding the local backcountry since early December almost every day.  He'll share his intimate knowledge of the local backcountry conditions and more.

January 8-10, 2016: AIARE LEVEL 1 AVALANCHE COURSE ... The AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course provides a complete introduction to the avalanche phenomenon, avalanche terrain, decision making, and rescue. In a continental snowpack such as the Elk Mountains, AE's customized instruction maximizes student learning outcomes as they relate to backcountry travel. Aspen Expeditions has been teaching avalanche courses since 1980 and has an intimate knowledge of the Colorado snowpack. (ONLY 2 SPOTS LEFT)

January 16-17, 2016:  INTRODUCTION TO BACKCOUNTRY SKIING with MTN products highlighted
This camp is offered for either the entry level uphill skier and/or those who are new to the backcountry.  Topics will include:  Proper gear choice and use of skins, AT boots, dressing and packing for a day's BC tour, uphill technique/tracksetting, kick turns, basic route finding... all with access to the Aspen backcountry yet completely avoiding any "Avalanche" terrain.
