14,000-foot Peak Climbs

Aspen is hemmed in by three major wilderness areas and myriad peaks and rugged valleys, including six official 14,000-plus foot peaks. The local 14ers, as they are called, are often regarded as some of the state's most iconic summits, including the Maroon Bells, Pyramid Peak, Capitol Peak, Snowmass Mountain and Castle Peak.

Our AMGA trained guides regularly guide clients up the technical and non-technical routes of these 14ers, in addition to two mellower 14ers located just over Independence Pass — La Plata Peak and Mount Elbert, the state's highest summit — that are ideal for first-time 14er climbers.

Our AMGA-trained professional mountain guides are uniquely equipped to show you a safe and fun day on one of the local 14ers. For the technical peaks our clients are often short-roped or short-belayed through all terrain where a slip or fall could be hazardous. Similarly, in technical terrain, Aspen Expeditions' standard is no more than two clients per guide to ensure the greatest safety.
